Chronology
International Graffiti Festival Timisoara was born due to the following actions:
As a result of the desire to promote cultural development of Timisoara, Petru Iliesu ( the president of the foundation Timisoara ’89) proposed in 20xx to Timisoara municipality, the implemeting of the concept “Timisoara Open Art City”. To the headquarter of the foundation Timisoara ’89, Petru Iliesu implemented a virtual museum in which it was supposed to submit images from different artistic manifestations by the means of some monitors placed on a room specially arranged for this purpose.
After he descovered the rich offer of Timisoara in works of Graffiti/ Street Art and in the spirit of the concept “Timisoara Open Art City” , Sergio Morariu ( president of the EnduRoMania foundation) realized a photografic inventory with the works of Graffiti and Street Art and after that followed a series of presentations in Timisoara 89’ foundation in the “virtual museum“ shown above.
Mrs. Corina Nani, teacher of Design in the Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD) , proposed the achievement of the International Graffiti Festival (IGF) Timisoara during the period 15-17.09.2011. The teacher Alexandra Titu, critic of art and teacher of the history of art at FAD accepted with enthuziasm the position of curator of IGF. It has started the collaboration with Timisoara’s grafferi, Alex Neculai and Flaviu Roua, who dealt with the convocation of the graffers in all over the country, the establish of the firm which produces sprays ( Feuerstein/ Molotow from Lahr-Germany), with the cantity of spray cans and the colors necessary and participated at the selection of the locations were the works of Graffiti/ Street Art will be applied.
It followed a intense activity of planning and organizing the festival. Mrs. Corina Nani was busy with the inviting of the 4 graffiers from Lausanne/ Switzerland , and Sergio Morariu with the inviting of three graffiers from Dresda/Germany. The participation of the foreign graffiers was extremly important to confer the international character and to improve the quality and the artistic level of the festival.
In April it has been a promotion of the festival by carrying out a work at Brebu Nou at the headquarter of the EnduRomania foundation and the X-Tex SRL company, the main sponsor. This work of Graffiti/ Street Art was developed by plastic artists and consultants of speciality, Alex Neculai and Flaviu Roua.
